Happy New Year

With all the stormy weather battering our local coastal towns we thought it was about time to update our blog with some jolly news and show we’ve been up to over the winter.

We took down the yurts at the end of our season in glorious hot sun. We got the the kettle going over the camp fire and cooked up a few omelettes for lunch. We agreed that we should stop and do this more often.

The autumn turned out to be fantastic for mushroom collecting. We found big fat juicy pennybuns every day on the way to school. Some we cooked up with a bit of butter and some we’ve dried over the rayburn to pop in a hearty stew over the winter. Good times!

We went for a rockpool walk along the local beach and found this little octopus trying to camouflage itself. This was a first for us as we’ve never seen an octopus along our coast so we were very excited. We decided to leave the octopus and instead came home with a big bag of Laverbread which Thea turned into amazing burgers.
